Common Reasons of Headaches in a ChildWe often believe that frequent headache sufferers can be only adults. The latest news reveals the fact that headaches in a child occur just as frequently as headaches in adults. Unless you are a specialist who deals with child headaches, you probably do not know much about this. However, you should know that almost 30% of pre-school children have already had their first headache. Unfortunately, the triggers of headaches in a child are still unknown. There are quite a lot of different reasons for headache in a child. One thing to consider is family history. If you find that there are many other people in your family tree who have headaches, then you should not be surprised about headaches in your child. This is especially true for girls since females make the majority of people who suffer from migraines. Head injuries are also greatly responsible for headaches in a child. Any head injury of your child requires a check-up with pediatrician. The specialist will tell you how to properly treat the injury and what to expect. If you choose to treat the injury yourself, you have to be very careful; otherwise your child’s headache may get worse. In this case, you cannot avoid seeing your pediatrician as only he/she can ensure that your child recovers properly and that the injury is not serious. Your child’s environment can also be a cause for headaches. These things include changes in the weather, bright lights, strong smells, dehydration, improper sleep and excessive loud noises. If your child is in a stressful environment, that may also cause him or her to have a headache. Oftentimes we do not realize that children’s stress can cause headaches but it actually can, especially if there are problems within the home itself. Another place where stress can be found is at school. You also should notice if your child has a food allergy – and headaches as a result of it. This is especially true with the flavor enhancer called MSG, monosodium glutamate, and caffeine, which can be found in chocolate and soda. With so many sources of a headache in a child parents should pay special attention the above-mentioned things. Popularity: 30% April 26, 2007 | In Articles | Comments OffNo Comments yet
